Base Board with Peripherals

The Hpe_midi Platform  consists of a "Base Board", "Add-on FPGA Module", and "Case". The Base Board is rich with industry standard peripherals, communication ports, power module, prototyping area, expansion/interface connectors, display ports, clock,  and AD/DA connectors.  The Base Board provides a flexible and versatile platform that can host custom-made daughter cards and modules.

Series of HMXx-AS2 modules with 1, 2, 4, and 8 Altera Stratix-II FPGAs (EP2S60 or EP2S180) are available and can be used in conjunction with the Base Board.  The connection to the main board is done by two 364 pin Elastomer module connectors.

Series of add-on modules (connected through 132-pin child-board interface) provide eSATA2, Logic Analyzer, PCIe, Ethernet, and extended memory interface.

Add-on Optional Modules

The Hpe_child board HC-PCIe4 connects the Hpe_midi with a PC or any other system via a standard PCI Express high speed link. The Hpe system uses this interface to connect SEmulator and Logic Analyzer with a PC. At the heart of this interface is an ALTERA ArriaGX FPGA.

The Hpe_child Board HC-ETH offer the developer 2 additional Ethernet connections for the Hpe system. Major component of the interfaces are two National DP83865. These are fully featured Physical Layer transceiver with integrated PMD sublayers to support 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet protocols. The DP83865 is an ultra low power version of the DP83861 and DP83891.

The interface board HI-PCIe4 can be inserted in every X16 PCI Express slot in the PC. It connects the internal PCIe bus to the standard PCI Express X4 external connector. Since this interface board is not active, cable length is limited to two meters

HC-COLE is a connector board for 5 * 20 pin flat ribbon cables. One of the connectors is at the end of the board and not populated, because a hole in the rear panel is required. If you order the HC-COLE together with your Hpe_midi, you will get the populated connector and the modified rear panel for free.
Every pin is connected to a LED which shows the logic level. You can activate respectively 20 LED's together with a jumper.

The bundle contains the interface card HI-PCIe4, the child board HC-PCIe4 and a cable with a length of 2m. This is all you need for a high speed link between Hpe_midi and a Host PC. We recommend using a Shuttle PC with internal graphic controller, since it offers the possibility to use the PCIe X16 graphic slot for the HI-PCIe4.

HC-CONN is a connector board with two eSATA2-connectors, which are connected on LVDS signals, e.g. 1 Gbit for StratixII. Furthermore there is the possibility to plug in 5 * 20 pin. flat ribbon cables. (The connectors are not populated)
