Powered by Altera Stratix 4GX FPGA, this platform features x8 end-point PCI Express Gen 2 , USB 3.0 (Host & Device), SFP+ , Gigabit Ethernet,  DDR-3 (SO-DIMM), DDR-2 (component), data-rate-adjustable Serial Transceivers (with super clock),  IO expansion connector, SMAs (connected to 4 Serial Transceivers), and stand-alone operation.

The on-board Super Clock provides different reference clocks across eight Serial Transceivers on the high-speed connector. This enables development with any serial IO standard supported by the on-board Stratix 4GX device.

This platform supports the following Stratix 4 GX.GT devices in 1517 package (initially released with the EP4SGX230):
