Leap® On-Board Transceiver FMC+ Module (Vita57.4)


The FMC-LEAP is a Vita57.4 compliant FMC+ module supported by two  Amphenol/FCI 300Gig Leap® On-Board Transceiver ports and ultra low-jitter programmable clock generator. Each Leap on-board transceiver port is directly connected to 12 multi-gigabit serial transceivers (1.25Gb/s to 25.8Gb/s) of  Vita 57.4 compliant  FPGA carrier boards. Each port can also used for three 100G interfaces through MPO splitting cables.

Amphenol FCI’s 300Gb/s Leap® High-Speed Optical Module is faster, smaller, more cost and power efficient than most conventional datacenter interconnects.  The transceiver is capable of speeds up to 25Gb/s and distances up to 100m . The 300Gb/s total throughput requires only 1sq inch of board space and 5.4W of power.

  • Transceivers can be placed in 2-dimensional layout grid with 1” pitch between adjacent transceivers \

  • Ethernet transmission distance up to 100m (multi mode fiber

  • Interoperable with other 100GBASE-SR4 compatible transceiver          

  • Electrically compatible with 25Gb/s PHY ASICs

  • Easy to connect

  • Uses off-the-shelf MT optical interface               

  • No through holes to connect transceiver – one side of board only

  • Allows for transceiver optimization and monitoring connection discovery, channel diagnostics, and signal status monitoring

  • Supports non-standard protocols in this range of datarates. Note CDR operational bit rate of 25-25.8Gb/s        

  • Lower system latency and better system performance

  • Individual CDR circuits for each Transmit and Receive channel Each CDR can be independently turned on/off

  • CDR operational bit rate of 25-25.8Gb/s includes 25.78125Gb/s (100GbE)

  • 11dB of signal peaking at 12GHz allows for recovery of suboptimal signal condition             

  • Compensates for PCB trace losses to ensure proper signal conditioning

  • Less than 3W (typ.) power consumption w/o CDR
