Xilinx Virtex™ 5 FX70T, FX100T 4-Lane PCI Express® Gen. 2 / USB 3.0 Development Board

Powered by Xilinx Virtex-5 FX70T, FX100T, LX110T, LX155T, or SX95T, this platform is designed to support x4 end-point PCI Express Gen 1 (with FX70T, FX100T, LX110T, LX155T, or SX95T) or Gen 2 (with FX70T or FX100T), USB 3.0 (Host & Device), up to 2GB of DDR-2 SO-DIMM (mounted on the back side), data-rate-adjustable RocketIO GTP/GTX transceivers (with super clock), flexible LVDS connections, and stand-alone operation.

The on-board Super Clock provides different reference clocks across eight RocketIO GTP/GTX (3.125/6.5 Gbps) transceivers on the high-speed connectors. This enables the V5-PCIE2 platform to be used for any serial IO based developments supported by the GTP/GTX transceivers (SERDES).

Various add-on modules extend the capability and flexibility of the V5-PCIE2 platforms. The above picture shows addition of x2 SFP, x1 SATA, USB 2.0 3.0 Host & Device, x1 SD, x1 Mictor, and x8 SMA to the main platform. For FPGA gate density and peripheral expansions, multiple V5-PCIE2 boards can be connected to each other via Samtec high-speed ribbon connectors. Multiple V5-PCIE2 platforms can be plugged into motherboards with PCI Express female connectors.
