IDE Controller IP Core
Overview:
The IDE controller
IP Core can be used in any device wishing to control an IDE hard disk
supporting PIO modes 0..4 and/or compact flash or PCMCIA flashcards of
hard disk supporting the TRUE-IDE mode.
The IDE controller consists of the following logic blocks:
- Bus interface
- Register area
- PIO Mode timing
- State machine
- Sector buffers
Main Features:
- PIO Mode 0 to PIO Mode 4 support
- Quest AHB Slave Bus interface running at 100Mhz.
- Bursting support bus interface
- Internal IDE Sector buffering for increased performance (back-to-back sector transfer)
- 32-Bit bus data transfer supported (supported from revision 0x02 and above)
- Internal timing registers for PIO Modes
- Upgradeable to support UDMA on request
- Low gate count
- Controller performance close to maximum PIO mode performance (in back-to-back mode@100Mhz 32-Bit mode, running upto 15.25MB/sec excluding OS overhead)
- Compact flash/PCMCIA card compatible in TRUE-IDE/ATA mode
